Poly Micro – Poly Tempic, Dr. Peter T!

screen-shot-2016-12-30-at-9-07-01-pmMeet Peter Thoegersen, Ph.D, whose name I have finally learned to spell.  Dr. Thoegersen is a composer, drummer, purveyor of all things microtonal and a witty satirical soul.  Paul and I caught up with him in his hometown of Ventura, CA, while I was out visiting Paul this past October.  We sat down with Peter in the relaxed atrium space at the Ventura pier.

In this podcast 4 of Peter’s works are featured – A Day By The Strand, Hypercube, Canto IV and VII.

  1. I like that this is now on the WordPress sites… — there is a lot of information here I could not get the link to George Eskin? mentioned that radio show on facebook? that memory thing an audio sound memory — also — the Polytempo marching band is so funny.

I am as well reminded of how the synthesizer I play and have played for the last 16 years has a 1/128 breakdown of each whole tone step(supernova II by novation) – so.. I have listened to the different sounds say middle C plus 1/128th of a pitch increase and could not tell that difference. at 3/128th there is a slight change I would notice – but the midi file can record all these changes with that kind of precision. But I think in the performance area these new pieces can be putting people in these different rooms where who is to say they are in the same state or country as they could be getting skyped into the performance?
